Are You Going Without Credit Cards?
| December 8, 2009 |
Have you decided to stick strictly with cash? If so, you could be part of a growing movement of millions of people that have decided to rid themselves of credit cards and other forms of plastic. In fact this growing trend has been dubbed the "Back to Cash" movement and has garnered the attention of many well known financial experts who in the past even advocated using credit cards in a responsible way.
When it comes to using cash more than plastic, consumers are getting a lot of help from places that you would least expect. Those places are none other than the places that consumers generally shop most and where they are given "cash discounts" just for using cash. As stated in an earlier post entitled "Getting Discounts for Not Using Credit Cards", places such as gas stations, restaurants and even some retailers would rather you use cash; which saves them money in the end.
With everything that has happened in the past couple of months concerning credit cards, it is not very hard to see many people deciding to leave their cards at home when shopping or even canceling their cards altogether. Even with that said, it may be worthwhile for you to keep at least one card even if it has to be through a local bank. If something unexpected happens and you need to pay immediately, but lack the cash, a credit card or even a debit card could be the only way you would be able to make the payment.
If you have decided to lose the plastic and only use cash I would like to hear from you.
