Credit Card Issuers Using Rewards to Entice
| November 24, 2009 |
From recent statements and advertisements, credit card issuers look to be more competitive this holiday season with rewards. As to be expected, issuers are digging deep when it comes to trying to have cardholders prefer their plastic over others or cash. Two issuers stand out to me, and they could possibly be the choice of millions Americans this year. They are Discover and American Express.
Looking to become the card of choice this holiday season, Discover has recently announced its plan on becoming shoppers’ top preference when it comes to paying for purchases. That plan in none other than what Discover cardholders have come to love, Cashback bonus up to twenty percent. According to a spokesperson, for a limited time cardholders are essentially on a dollar for dollar basis during this holiday season promotion. Cardholders can even go to ItPaystoDiscover.com, a site that gives an overview of all the ways cardholders can get the most value from their rewards.
American Express is another issuer that is looking to reward some of their loyal customers for a time frame of Black Friday through Cyber Monday. Those that shop online through Amazon.com with one of the many charge cards that American Express offers can receive up to three times the Membership Reward points than they normally get on purchases.
As a cardholder is there anything that could get you to use your credit card more this holiday season?
