I pay my balance off each month so it's free money. To comment on your post, I think people in general are carrying less cash and society has embraced electronic forms of payment as the preferred way to pay. You can go to most fast food places now and pay with a credit or debit card. I suspect that debit card usage has grown so quickly because of the shift away from using cash.
