Discover Financial Services Competes with “Discover Zip”

In a world where everyone seems to be on the move, we have seen a couple of services that focus on making things faster. Payment for goods and services is no exception, as we have seen quicker ways to make payments from both Visa and MasterCard in the form of PayWave and PayPass. Not to be outdone, Discover Financial Services has come up with a quicker payment solution product called the "Discover Zip".
Discover states that Zip is an innovative payment solution that enables fast, secure transactions via contactless technology. Like other contactless payment options consumers simply touch a payment device to a card reader to make a payment, saving time at checkout.
With Zip, Discover gives cardholders a new ways to carry their cards that can be used with their payment devices. Where most contactless card devices only give you traditional bank cards or key chain fobs, Discover gives you a mini card that can be attached to personal items that people generally carry on a daily basis. These include items such mobile phones, PDAs, and even MP3 players.
With Discover stepping into the market of contactless card payments, we can only imagine the need for merchants to offer customers such payment options.
