FLEX Scholar Essay Contest from CreditCardGuide.com

 

Eligibility requirements:

  •  US Citizen or permanent resident
  •  Enrolled as full time student in an accredited college for undergraduate studies located in USA
  •  Must be enrolled as a freshman/sophomore
  •  Only one entry per contestant
  •  Employees and affiliates of Bankrate, Inc and their immediate families are not eligible

Application requirements:

  • Completed application form
  • Attach the following documents to the application form:
    • Copy of most recent transcripts (with Social Security Number blacked out). Minimum GPA of 2.5 required.
    • Verification of enrollment document from school/college
    • Essay
Essay:
  • Essays must be typed and double spaced
  • Word count of 500-1000(max)
  • Essays will be judged based on coherence, originality, quality, voice, style, community service and evidence of sound research
  • All submitted essays will become a property of CreditCardGuide.com and may be published on our website in whole or part
Topic:
Pick any one topic from the list below. Essay should be 500-1000 words (max):
  • Should full-time students hold part-time jobs?  Why or why not? What’s been your experience?
  • What person, event or program has most prepared you for the financial dimension of college life?
  • Most credit cards offer some kind of cash back, airmiles or points.  If you could invent a new rewards program, what would it be?
Award:
  • Total award - $10,000; Number of awards granted - 10
  • Maximum - $1,000 per winner
  • Award check will be made out to the school, and mailed to the winner's address
  • Winners will be notified on this website at www.creditcardguide.com/flexscholar
Deadlines:
  • Application deadline - September 28th, 2012
  • Notification date - October 31st, 2012
