Over-limit fee
A charge made by your credit card company when you exceed the borrowing limit that they set on your credit card account. As a result of the CARD Act of 2009, credit card companies may not charge an over-limit fee unless you have given them permission to allow you to go over your credit limit. If you refuse to give this permission, the issuer can block payments for any purchases after you've reached your credit limit.
