Skimming

A type of credit card fraud in which the thief obtains account information as the cardholder makes a legitimate transaction. Thieves may insert skimming equipment (including card readers and cameras) into existing ATM or payment terminals. Or, they may simply work in a restaurant or other venue and copy the numbers when they take a credit card from a patron for payment.
