How To Get A Free Copy Of Your Credit Report

Because it contains critical information about your credit history, it is important to make sure that your credit report is accurate. Obtain a copy of your credit report regularly and check the information in it, particularly if you plan to apply for a new loan or credit card. If any information in the report is inaccurate, you need to dispute that information and make sure it is corrected.

The three major credit bureaus that issue credit reports are Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. These companies collect, store, and sell the details of your credit history based on the information they obtain from smaller regional bureaus, or directly from credit card companies and other lenders.

You are allowed one free copy of your report per year from each of the three credit bureaus. In addition, you can get a free online credit report from Experian. Please click here for more information on how to obtain a free copy of your credit report.
